MURDER SUSPECT'S FRIEND PAINTS A 2-SIDE PORTRAIT.(Local)

He brought her breakfast in bed. He held her hand through the delivery of their now 8-month-old son. He borrowed money to buy her a birthday cake.

Kathy Austin said she knew this side of Glen McGee best.

Yet, she said, there was another side of McGee, who sits in a Rensselaer County Jail cell facing a murder charge.

He was someone who often became violent after he drank, whose "beautiful hazel eyes," would "turn black," portraying an "evil look," said Austin. He once taunted Austin by throwing knives at her, she said.

McGee, 22, of 161 First St., Troy, is charged in the April 9 strangulation death of Lucile Guertin in a Lansingburgh bar. He remains in the Rensselaer County Jail pending the results of a county grand jury probe.

Troy police officials are investigating if McGee was involved in last May's murder …
