NSW: Police appeal for help in finding missing woman

SYDNEY, Dec 29 AAP - A 44-year-old woman is still missing today after she and her two
children accepted a lift from a man they knew in Sydney's south-west yesterday.

Thaira Metti, her 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter were walking along Lackey
Street at Fairfield about 10.30am (AEDT) when a man, who knew Mrs Metti, spoke to the
family in Arabic and asked them to join him in the car.

The man drove the maroon 1998 Holden Commodore around the area before dropping the
two children at their Fairfield home.

The woman's husband then called police, who spoke with the driver to advise him to
return the woman to her home.

"The man is known to the woman," a NSW police spokeswoman said.

Mrs Metti is described as being short, of Middle Eastern appearance with black bobbed
shoulder-length hair, brown eyes and medium build.

She was wearing a brown sleeveless top, brown three-quarter length pants, brown high
heels and she was carrying a large handbag showing a picture of Britney Spears.

The man's car had registration plates VHH 674.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, 185cm tall, thin
build and was wearing a black business shirt and light coloured jeans.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
